Boredom is good. Maybe.

In a time when we have some of the most controversial leaders and some of the most controversial political election results in the world, it feels good to be in boring little NZ.

We have, looming, one of the most boring elections possible. Bill English, whose soporific tones make every soundbite seem to go on forever, matching up against Andrew Little, whose wit is about as quick as dutch elm disease.

This is good. No silly controversial tweets. No exploitive racial campaign slogans (well, Peters aside). No chance of any violence or politically charged attacks. This is good.

We hope.

The only risk from such a steady as she goes election is the media might get bored and look elsewhere for their headlines. Enter Kim Dotcom stage (far) left. He may end up getting way more airtime that he deserves (any). And this bugs me.

So, please, to any of you fine journos out there, by all means check out what he has to say. But please fact check. Then fact check again before printing any of his nonsense. Lets make NZ rise above fake news.
